Best months to throw a party! – Statistically speaking.

Let’s face it, the weather in the UK can be unpredictable, to say the least. When you are going to great lengths to ensure the success of the event of the decade; whether that be a wedding, a birthday or charity ball, there is a certain amount of uncertainty around what the British weather will bring. We can all hope for glorious sunshine and blue skies, whether that be in February, July or December but even if your big day is a wet wash out and you are graced with gale-force winds, with a few contingency plans and preparations in place, you can be sure that you will look back in years to come with unforgettable memories, regardless of the weather.

Many people choose the peak months of July and August; mid-summer, for their celebration. Summertime lends itself to outdoor parties and coupled with school holidays and balmy weather it would seem like a no brainer for planning a wedding. However, as it is so popular, prices skyrocket and you may struggle for venue and location availability. This is where hiring a party marquee can be a fantastic solution. With a party tent or bespoke venue, you can choose where it is set up and when making the venue fit in with your plans rather than you compromise on your day. You will also have far more options for availability than an onsite fixed venue.

When we think of the summer months, we can idealise over the hot sunshine and long days. Yes, we can bet on warmer temperatures but if we are looking for a dry day, historically in the UK, April is the driest month of the year and specifically the 15th! If you choose November, however, for your big day, be mindful that the month is renowned for having a high chance of rain with the 11th historically being the wettest day of the year in the UK! November is also cold, crisp and atmospheric, meaning plenty of picturesque opportunities for catching those special moments on camera. Don’t be put off by the more wintry months with the idea of a chilly marquee-Bucks Marquees have extensive outdoor heating facilities to ensure you and your guests will be as toasty as you want to be!

December tends to be the busiest party season of the year. Make sure that your guests have plenty of notice as social calendars at this time of year can fill up quicker than you can say Jack Frost! Weather-wise there is always the chance of plummeting temperatures and the possible onset of romantic snowfall, which although could be your idea of weather wonder, could also bring guest’s travel plans grinding to a halt.

1% of brides get married in January so if you are looking to keep costs down and don’t mind wrapping up then there are some months which could see your budget maximised. As long as you avoid Valentines’ Day- January to March tend to be the less popular months with only 4% getting married in March. March is fresh but usually sunny, it is indicative of the first sprinkling of nature’s new life.

13% of couples get married in May, late springtime, where we can hope for milder weather and a few long weekends with the additional bank holidays.

September homes 13% of weddings. Prices reduce dramatically following the notoriously more expensive summer months and there is usually more availability in event services from music to celebrants and venues. September is also usually blessed with good weather meaning the option for outdoor celebrations and receptions is still on the cards.

Great British weather is one of life’s little mysteries but whenever the celebration and whatever the weather, Bucks Marquees in Milton Keynes have got you covered.
